The Savior Visited the Temple

Good morning, I have been asked to give a talk about the Savior visiting the temple.

In third Nephi chapter eleven verse one it says “And now it came to pass that there were a great multitude gathered together, of the people of Nephi, round about the temple which was in the land Bountiful; and they were marveling and wondering one with another, and were showing one to another the great and marvelous change which had taken place.”

This verse is talking about the people in the Americas that had gathered at the temple. It then proceeds to talk about a voice they heard that was not a harsh or loud voice but a small voice that pierced their souls. At first they did not understand the voice but the third time they came to realize that it said “Behold my Beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased, in whom I have glorified my name—hear ye him.” This was our Heavenly Father talking to the people in the Americas telling them to listen to his Son Jesus Christ.

It was important for them to listen to Christ so they could learn more about him and his gospel and how to return to live with him someday. It is also important for us to lean more about Christ so we too can return to live with Him and our Heavenly Father.

Shortly after, Christ came down from the heavens, presenting himself among the people of the Americas. He then continued by saying “Behold, I am Jesus Christ, whom the prophets testified shall come into the world. And behold, I am the light and the life of the world; and I have drunk out of that bitter cup which the Father hath given me, and have glorified the Father in taking upon me the sins of the world, in the which I have suffered the will of the Father in all things from the beginning.” “And it came to pass that when Jesus had spoken these words the whole multitude fell to the earth; for they remembered that it had been prophesied among them that Christ should show himself unto them after his ascension into heaven.” He then invited the whole multitude to come feel his hands and his feet and when they had done this they knew with a surety that it was they Christ they then fell to their hands and knees saying “Hosanna! Blessed be the name of the Most High God!” “And they did fall down at the feet of Jesus, and did worship him.”

Some ways we can come to know Jesus Christ is by reading our scriptures, praying, going to the temple, paying attention during church, and listening to the Holy Ghost. If we do these things then our testimonies will grow and we will have a desire to always choose the right.

Personally, I know this church is true, I know that the temple is a sacred place; I know that the Christ did in fact visit the temple in the Americas after he was resurrected. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
